George Michael Murr, Jr.

Michael Murr (the Potter) married Susannah ? . Earliest date of Michael is 1761 Salisbury, North Carolina (Deed and Court minutes). He had bought and sold lots and etc. He did not take the oath of Allegiance until 8 August 1777. Michael possibly born 1740. Died about 9 February 1784-85. Last will dated 17 August 1784. In it he mentions four children, only one by name: George Michael Murr not yet 21. Susannah alive 1 November 1806. Deed Book 14, page 598. She was executor of Michael (Potter) estate will dated 1 November 1806.

1. George Michael Murr, possibly born 1 December 1768? Salisbury, North Carolina. He died 11 December 1812, 43 years, 11 days, Salisbury, North Carolina. Death date on stone. Buried in Salisbury, North Carolina, Lutheran Cemetery.

2. Susanna Murr, possibly born 1770, married Thomas McCoy, 25 January 1802, Cabarrus County, North Carolina. Susanna probably named for mother.

3. Christine Murr, possibly born 1772, married Henry Petree, 22 August 1808, Cabarrus County, North Carolina. Had a daughter, Deyanne Petree, baptized 20 February 1813. (Children numbers 2 and 3 guess work.)

4. John Murr, born 6 July 1774, Salisbury, North Carolina. Died 26 July 1865, Washington County, Tennessee. Possibly buried McCarty Cemetery as he lived near by. 6 May 1790, John, an orphan being 15 years, 10 months old, was bound out to Tobias Furrier to learn the trade of Blacksmith. Is how we estimated his birthdate.
